Miami Vs. Boston College Final Score: Duke Johnson’s Impressive Debut Powers Hurricanes To 41-32 Victory

Miami Hurricanes freshman running back Duke Johnson got his fair share of national attention Saturday, carrying the ball seven times for 135 yards and two touchdowns while doing his part to propel his team to a 41-32 win over Boston College on the road.

Eagles quarterback Chase Rettig tried all he could with 441 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 32-of-51 passing but couldn't get much help in the run game, with Boston College averaging 2.9 yards per attempt.

It looked like Miami might just run away with it when Morris completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Malcom Lewis in the early fourth but Rettig refused to let his team go down without a fight. Boston College's junior quarterback cut the deficit to 11 with a 17-yard touchdown toss to Tahj Kimble and continued that momentum with an 81-yard drive on the following possession.

Ultimately though, the Miami defense would hold strong with a goal-line stand that included stuffing a fourth-down quarterback sneak from the 1-yard line. Hurricanes head coach Al Golden would then run off all but four seconds on the clock before taking an intentional safety that would effectively ice the game.

Box Score Hero: The aforementioned Johnson, who had touchdown rushes of 54 and 56 yards.

Rankings Ramifications: This game isn’t going to propel either team into the rankings but it’s certainly a good start for Miami.
