Purdue Boilermakers quarterback Robert Marve injured the ACL in his left knee for the third time in the last four years, Purdue head coach Danny Hope revealed Monday on his radio show. The extent of the injury is not yet known. From Lafayette Journal-Courier reporter Mike Carmin:

Marve was injured late in the fourth quarter of Purdue's 20-17 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday. He was playing pretty well prior to the injury -- although Purdue kept switching out quarterbacks -- as he completed 11 of 18 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. In the Boilermakers' season-opening drubbing of Eastern Kentucky, Marve was 30-of-38 for 295 yards and three scores.

Marve was Purdue’s starting quarterback in 2010 upon his arrival after transferring from Miami, but he only played in four games that season due to injury. Marve is likely done at Purdue, where he threw for just over 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns in 16 games.

Caleb TerBush, who was a lot less effective than Marve in Saturday's loss, after missing the first game of the season while serving a suspension, will take over as the Boilermakers' starting quarterback.
