Kentucky Vs. Louisville Final Score: Cardinals Defeat Wildcats, 32-14

Louisville had its way with Kentucky in the season-opening Governor’s Cup on Sunday, winning by a score of 32-14. The Cardinals went into halftime with a 22-7 advantage and maintained their momentum as the game went on in the second half.

A field goal four minutes into the third quarter extended the Cardinals’ lead to 18 points. Then, Jeremy Wright rushed for his third touchdown of the game with a one-yard run with 4:37 to go in the third quarter.

Kentucky had issues holding onto the ball in addition to being outmatched by Louisville. There were two Wildcat turnovers on the day, both fumbles lost. The Cardinals dominated the ground game, recording 219 rushing yards compared to the Wildcats’ 93.

Senorise Perry’s 47-yard touchdown run was one of the highlights of the game.

Box Score Hero: Teddy Bridgewater and his 19 pass completions on 21 attempts for 232 passing yards. Not too shabby.

Rankings Ramifications: Louisville was a two-touchdown favorite going into this one and they won by just a little more than that. So how much did we learn about the Cardinals? Enough to move them up from No. 25 in the rankings?

But Did They Cover? They definitely covered. Louisville was a 13 or 14 point favorite and won by 18 points.
