The Badgers are 2-1 on the season after a narrow 16-14 win last week against Utah State. While Wisconsin's defense has been solid, allowing 15.0 points per game, the Badgers' offense has struggled. Through their first three games, the Badgers are averaging 16.3 points per game, which is 115th out of 124 FBS teams. Preseason Heisman Trophy candidate Montee Ball is averaging just 3.8 yards per attempt after averaging 6.3 yards per attempt last season.
The Miners are coming off their first win of the season last week, a 41-28 victory against New Mexico State. The Miners will be well prepared for Wisconsin, having already played two BCS conference schools this season. UTEP lost 24-7 to No. 4 Oklahoma in its season opener before losing 28-10 at Mississippi. While UTEP quarterback Nick Lamaison may not have eye-popping yardage numbers, he's yet to throw an interception in 88 attempts.
Saturday could be a low-scoring affair as both teams enter the game averaging fewer than 20 points per game.
Game time, TV channel: 12 p.m. ET, ESPN2
