UNC (1-2) has lost both of its last two games by less than a touchdown. They lost their first ACC game of the season 28-27 to Wake Forest, then followed that up with a 39-34 loss to No. 19 Louisville last week. The Tar Heels' offense has played well in all three games this season, averaging 41.0 points per game. Quarterback Bryn Renner leads the offense, averaging 290 yards and three touchdowns per game. It's still unknown whether Giovani Bernard will play this week after missing the last two games with an injury.
East Carolina (2-1) is coming off a 24-14 win against Southern Miss last week. Saturday's game will be ECU's third straight road game. While not as prolific as UNC, the Pirates also rely on their passing offense. ECU is 53rd in the country in passing yards per game, while ranking 115th in rushing yards per game. Sophomore receiver Justin Hardy is the Pirates' biggest threat. He has 241 receiving yards this season, including 203 over his last two games. He's also scored in all three of ECU's games this season.
This will be the fourth straight season the two teams have played, with UNC winning the last three meetings.
