The Aggies (1-1) won 48-3 at Southern Methodist last week and will attempt to improve to above .500 for the first time this season. Texas A&M is led by freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel, who has thrown for 467 yards and four touchdowns this season while also leading the team in rushing with 184 yards. Manziel has either thrown or rushed for seven of the Aggies' nine touchdowns. His 184 rushing yards are more than three times as many as Trey Williams, who is Texas A&M's second leading rushing with 60 yards.
After winning its season opener, South Carolina State (1-2) has lost its last two games, including 56-0 at No. 24 Arizona last week. The Bulldogs were only able to muster 154 total yards against Arizona while allowing 689. Quarterback Richard Cue threw for just 89 yards on 25 attempts last week and the Bulldogs averaged 2.2 yards per attempt on 29 rushing attempts.
South Carolina State failed to score against Arizona and will likely have a tough time putting up points against an Aggie defense which ranks 14th in the country, allowing just 11.5 points per game.
