Louisville Vs. FIU Final Score: No. 20 Cardinals Outlast Golden Panthers, 28-21

Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater passed for two touchdowns and ran for another in leading the No. 20 Louisville Cardinals to a 28-21 road victory over Florida International on Saturday.

The Golden Panthers took a 14-7 lead with 7:08 to play in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run from Jake Medlock, but Bridgewater knotted things back up with his second touchdown pass of the first half, a one-yard strike to Andrell Smith with 26 seconds to go before halftime.

Cardinals running back Jeremy Wright ran for a six-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Bridgewater notched his third score on a one-yard run six seconds into the fourth. Louisville held on from there, though a four-yard touchdown pass from FIU quarterback Jacob Younger to E.J. Hilliard with less than five minutes to play made the final score more respectable.

Cardinals running back Senorise Perry rushed for 74 yards on 11 carries while Smith hauled in five receptions for 50 yards. Younger finished with 74 receiving yards on five catches.

Box Score Hero: Bridgewater, who’s three total touchdowns were the difference. The sophomore quarterback threw for 194 yards in 19-of-36 passing and rushed four times for 16 yards. He also threw two interceptions.

Rankings Ramifications: An unimpressive win over an unranked opponent could drop Louisville a couple spots, but it’s unlikely that they drop out of the rankings entirely.

But Did They Cover? Louisville was favored by anywhere from 10.5 to 11.5 points, so they didn’t cover.
