Akron Vs. Tennessee Final Score: Volunteers Pull Away Late For 47-26 Win

It wasn't the way that most Vols fans would like, but the Tennessee Volunteers were able to come away from their game with the Akron Zips with a 47-26 win. The first half was extremely close, as the teams were tied at 7, 10, 13, 20 and 23 all in the first 30 minutes. Akron got out to a 7-0 lead less than 30 seconds into the game when Avis Commack returned a Tyler Bray interception 44 yards for a touchdown. The Vols responded with an A.J. Johnson touchdown on the next drive.

Akron took a 23-20 lead before half on a 70 yard touchdown run by Quentin Hines, but Tennessee tied the game with a field goal with 1:12 left in the half.

The Vols would take the lead for good in the third quarter when Bray found Rajion Neal for a 3 yard touchdown. The teams would trade field goals, but two late touchdown passes from Bray to Justin Hunter and Jacob Carter would ice the game for Tennessee.

Box Score Hero: Tyler Bray had a great day, going 27-of-43 for 399 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception.

Rankings Ramifications: The Vols have a chance of being ranked at the bottom of the Top 25, but probably will be just short.

But Did They Cover? Tennessee was favored by 32 points, so they failed to cover the spread.
