Nathan Scheelhaase Injury Update: Illinois QB Practices, Listed As Starter
Scheelhaase left Saturday's contest with Western Michigan in the third quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. Backup quarterbacks Reilly O'Toole and Miles Osei struggled mightily filling in for the injured starter. Scheelhaase was 11-for-18 for 128 yards, one touchdown and one interception before exiting Saturday's game with a double digit lead. He also added 21 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Scheelhaase, a junior, earned the starting quarterback job as a freshman and has led the Illini to consecutive bowl game victories the past two seasons. He finished last season with 2,110 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, along with 624 yards and six touchdowns rushing.
