The Florida State Seminoles have lost their star defensive end Brandon Jenkins for the year due to a left foot injury, according to CBSSports.com.

Florida State started the season in fine form with a 69-3 pounding of the Murray State Racers, but unfortunately will have to play the remainder of their campaign without Jenkins. The senior was thought to be one of the top NFL prospects, but now may decide to redshirt in order to have one more season of eligibility.

Jenkins is a two-time All-ACC selection who has totaled 21.5 sacks in the past two seasons. Tank Carradine will need to step up, as the junior will see much more time with Jenkins sidelined. After coming in for Jenkins against Murray St., Carradine was able to pick up a sack.

Giorgio Newberry and Mario Edwards are both redshirt freshmen who will also have ample opportunity to make a name for themselves with Jenkins on the shelf.
