Florida State’s Brandon Jenkins Done For Year With Lisfranc Injury

Florida State defensive end Brandon Jenkins will miss the entire 2012 season with a Lisfranc fracture in his left food, the school announced.

Jenkins was injured in the first half of the Seminoles’ season-opening 69-3 win over Murray State and did not return. The 6’3”, 260-pound senior still has the option of taking a redshirt year and returning next season to play in Tallahassee. Prior to this season, most experts projected Jenkins as a first- or-second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Jenkins led the ‘Noles in sacks each of the past two seasons, totaling 21.5 sacks overall during that span. He earned All-ACC honors in each of those two seasons and considered leaving FSU after the 2011 season to enter the NFL Draft.

The Seminoles should be just fine at defensive end in Jenkins' absence. Bjoern Werner is one of the elite pass-rushing threats in the country, while Tank Carradine replaced Jenkins Saturday and picked up nine tackles and a sack. The nation's No. 1 overall recruit in the 2012 class, Mario Edwards, could see his role expand, as well.
