The No. 17 Texas Longhorns will host the New Mexico Lobos Saturday in their final home game of the non-conference schedule.

The Longhorns opened their season with a 37-17 win against Wyoming. Texas trailed 9-7 after the first quarter, but outscored Wyoming 17-0 in the second quarter to take control of the game. Sophomore David Ash started the game for the Longhorns and completed 20-of-27 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. Texas's running game was especially strong as the Longhorns racked up 280 rushing yards on 47 attempts. Both Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown eclipsed the 100-yard mark.
New Mexico also opened its season with a win, knocking off Southern University 66-21. New Mexico, running the triple-option offense, threw the ball just 10 times against Southern, but rushed for 347 yards while averaging 6.8 yards per carry. The Lobos’ defense also forced four turnovers, a number they’d like to duplicate against Texas.
Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1988.
