On the same day Colorado fell to Sacramento State, the Oregon State Beavers reclaimed some reputation for the Pac 12 by defeating 13th-ranked Wisconsin 10-7 on Saturday afternoon in Corvallis.

Late in the fourth quarter, Danny O’Brien led the anemic Wisconsin offense on its only scoring drive of the game with 1:31 remaining. The ensuing onside kick resulted in a lengthy video review, and it was determined that Wisconsin touched the ball before it traveled the necessary 10 yards. On the review, however, it looked like an Oregon State player may have nicked the ball with a finger first.
Before that scoring drive, Oregon State had held the Badgers to about 150 yards of offense and to 0-12 on third down.
The Beavers went up 10-0 in the second quarter when Sean Mannion hit Brandin Cooks on a 20-yard touchdown pass for the deciding margin. Wisconsin running back Montee Ball was held to just 60 yards on 15 carries.
Box Score Hero: Sean Mannion, Oregon State QB. The young lefty went 30-48 for 285 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.
Rankings Ramifications: After a Week 1 struggle against Northern Iowa, it’s possible the loss could send the 13-ranked Badgers out of the Top 25.
But Did They Cover? Wisconsin was favored by 6.5, but Oregon State claimed that line straight up.
