Match-ups to watch
Tennessee wide receiver Justin Hunter vs. Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks
Johnthan Banks has emerged as the No. 1 cornerback in the 2013 NFL Draft class. He is a dynamic athlete with incredible ball skills. He will get a massive test this week when the Justin Hunter and the Volunteers come to town. Hunter is one of the top draft-eligible wideouts, possessing excellent size and speed. This should be a heavyweight battle for the ages, and draftniks will be re-watching this one all winter.
Stanford running game vs. Norte Dame defense
Stepfan Taylor has been a force in the early part of the season, vaulting himself towards the top of the senior class of running backs. Meanwhile, the Irish defense is as formidable as it has been in years. Manti Te'o leads the charge in a matchup that could very well determine the outcome of this game.
Players to watch
Landry Jones vs. Texas
If Landry Jones has any chance of repairing his draft stock, the Red River Shootout would be a nice place to start. He has been anything but impressive this season and now faces a suffocating Texas passing defense. If ever there was a time to make a statement, this is it.
LaDarius Perkins (Running back, Mississippi State) vs. Tennessee
I’ve been beating this drum all season on Twitter, but LaDarius Perkins is a legitimate NFL Draft prospect. Averaging just over six yard per carry on the season, Perkins has proven to be a playmaker for the Bulldogs. He is a bit undersized but has excellent burst through the line of scrimmage and deceptive power. Keep an eye on No. 27 tonight.
