2013 NFL Draft Offensive Tackle Rankings

There are few more premier positions in the NFL Draft than offensive tackle. Teams that don’t have good tackles want them and they take them early. In the past three years, 12 offensive tackles have been taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. The importance of the position often leads to players going much higher than maybe they should.

None of the senior offensive tackle prospects profiles as first-round picks. But it won’t be a surprise to see one or two go on the first day of the draft if some of the top juniors don’t declare. How poor is the senior class? We rate Tennessee’s Dallas Thomas as the third-best senior tackle, but he’s playing guard this season.

There is top talent in the junior class with Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel. He’s assuredly a first-round pick if he comes out, and potentially a top 10 player. Michigan’s Taylor Lewan has just as much talent, but he’s been inconsistent. There are also good right tackle prospects in juniors D.J. Fluker and Jake Matthews.
