This is the awkward part of being an NFL fan.
2013 NFL Draft order far from set, but Browns, Jaguars among teams in the running for top pick
Mid-October is approaching, which means a handful of NFL fan bases are beginning to resign themselves to the fact that their team’s season is all but lost. We break down the race for the top choice in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Mid-October is approaching, which means a handful of NFL fan bases are beginning to resign themselves to the fact that their team’s season is all but lost. Despite the dedicated support, some fans realize that it’s already time to look ahead to next year.
It’s way too early for most people to start thinking about the 2013 NFL Draft order, but fans of bottom feeder teams need something to keep them occupied for the rest of the season. While no team is going to tank for draft position, nor should any fan necessarily be rooting for his or her team to lose, the fact remains that draft position has a huge affect on the type of franchise altering prospect a team could land.
Let’s check out the current top five draft order and see which team from the bunch is most likely to land the top pick, and which team is least likely to finish in the top five. We’ll also look for a team that could end up in consideration for the top choice.
1. Cleveland Browns (0-5)
2. Tennessee Titans (1-4)
3. New Orleans Saints (1-4)
4. Kansas City Chiefs (1-4)
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4)
Team most likely to escape the cellar: New Orleans Saints
This is an easy one. The Saints are off to a slow start, but they aren’t quite as bad as the record indicates. The Saints will have a very difficult time making the playoffs, but it’s tough to envision them landing the first overall draft pick, either.
Team most likely to draft first overall: Jacksonville Jaguars
This is a lot more difficult to pick out, especially considering it's only October. However, given the small sample size, the Jaguars have looked like the least competitive team in the entire league. They managed to beat the Colts on a last minute, 80-yard touchdown pass, but have been blown out in three home games this season. Even though the Browns are 0-5, Jacksonville is very much in the running for the first pick.
Team outside the bottom five in the running: Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders were on bye week, which kept them from losing in Week 5. Still, Oakland has looked terrible in the first quarter of the season. How the Raiders come out of the bye week will likely determine their season.
