Geno Smith is widely thought of as the top quarterback prospect in the 2013 NFL Draft, but won’t put his skills on display at the Senior Bowl as he has declined the invitation.
2013 Senior Bowl roster: Geno Smith declines invitation
West Virginia quarterback and top NFL draft prospect Geno Smith has decided to skip the 2013 Senior Bowl.

Several mock drafts, including the most recent mock at SB Nation, have the Kansas City Chiefs selecting Smith with the top overall pick in April. Smith is not considered the slam dunk prospect that Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III were last year, so his draft value is much less certain and could have been bolstered by a strong Senior Bowl performance.
Smith completed 71.2% of his passes for 4,205 yards with 42 touchdowns and only six interceptions in his senior season, but left something to be desired in the Pinstripe Bowl. His Mountaineers lost to Syracuse 38-14 and Smith was limited to 201 yards passing with two touchdowns. Scouts were hoping to get one more look at Smith behind center at the Senior Bowl, but must now look forward to the combine and his pro day.
