2014 NFL Draft defensive tackle rankings

Move over, Louis Nix. There’s a new No. 1 defensive tackle.

USA TODAY Sports

For a while, Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix appeared to be in a tier of his own in the defensive tackle rankings. The Irish nose tackle was dominant in his team’s run to the National Championship in 2012 and was picking up where he left off in 2013. Recently, he’s been more inconsistent, part of which has to do with a knee issue which seems to be lingering for him.

As a result, Minnesota’s Ra’Shede Hageman checks in as our top ranked defensive tackle. His length and burst off the snap have been evident on a weekly basis. He continues to improve at limiting the over-aggressive plays and is starting to look more and more like a top-15 pick.

After Hageman and Nix, a pair of pre-season favorites have fallen off slightly. Will Sutton is still adjusting to playing at a higher weight, though his game hasn't changed a ton. Dominique Easley, meanwhile, suffered a second ACL tear. If not for the injury, he may be the top guy on this list.

Things start to get murkier after the top four, but a few other potential day two picks are still among our top 24 offensive tackles. Here’s our full list.
