NFL Combine 2013: Players who were snubbed

333 players were invited to the 2013 NFL Combine, but these deserving players were somehow left off the list.

USA TODAY Sports

Despite 333 players being invited to the 2013 NFL Combine, some were left off the list. Every year a handful of players get drafted but did not get combine invites, and we should expect the same in 2013. Here are the biggest snubs from the 2013 combine.

A closer look at the Combine list

Jasper Collins, WR, Mount Union - Mount Union has proven to be a reliable source of NFL talent at the wide receiver position with Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts, but leading receiver Collins was not invited to the combine in 2013. Collins caught 92 passes for 1,694 yards and 22 touchdowns his senior season and led the Purple Raiders to another D-III championship.

Branden Smith, CB, Georgia - As athletic as nearly any cornerback in the draft, Smith likely would have shined at the combine. He lacks the technique of the top level corners and didn’t record any interceptions his senior season, but he did break up nine passes.

Michael Williams, TE, Alabama - He may lack the speed to ever become much of a threat in the passing game, but at 6’5, 269 pounds, Williams has the size to be a solid blocking tight end in the NFL. Williams caught 24 passes with four touchdowns his senior season.

Dennis Johnson, RB, Arkansas - Johnson lead the Razorbacks in rushing with 757 yards and eight touchdowns. He lacks size, but has the vision and agility to land a spot on an NFL roster. Johnson also is the SEC all-time leader in kickoff return yardage.

Kyle Juszczyk, FB, Harvard - A two-time All-American at tight end and H-back, Juszczyk could be a versatile fullback at the next level. He can serve both as a lead blocker or as a receiving threat out of the backfield. Juszczyk caught 52 passes for 706 yards and eight touchdowns as a tight end in his senior season.

At CBS, Rob Rang has his list of the top 10 combine snubs which includes several of the names on this list as well as players like Nevada tight end Zach Sudfeld and Florida State linebacker Vince Williams. Sudfeld had a great senior year with eight touchdown receptions and at 6'6, 261 pounds has the size need to play tight end in the NFL.

Oftentimes players who get overlooked for the combine come from smaller schools and non-powerhouse programs like Collins and Juszczyk. At Buy Scouting they take a look at the top 10 snubs from small schools. The list is headlined by Collins and Juszczyk, but also includes deserving players like New Haven wide receiver Jason Thompson and Illinois State linebacker Nate Palmer.
