Teams looking into trashed hotel room at 2013 NFL Scouting Combine

Two players didn’t treat their hotel room at the Crowne Plaza with very much respect.

USA TODAY Sports

At least 10 NFL teams and NFL Scouting President Jeff Foster are investigating an incident in which two players trashed a hotel room at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine.

The players, who were staying at the Crowne Plaza, left trash scattered about the room, including food on the beds. The most disturbing damage was done to the bathroom, though, where the unnamed players smeared toothpaste on the mirror and left urine and feces all over the place, according to Jason Cole.

The names of the two players were not released, though Foster has spoken with both prospects who were staying in the room. NFL teams have also asked the players about the incident at their respective pro days, but both are denying any involvement in the ordeal.

One of the prospects is a likely first-round pick, according to Dan Pompei’s initial report.

The report is puzzling to say the least. With more eyes on the NFL Combine than ever before, one would think players would have a better grasp on how to handle themselves at the biggest job interview of their lives. Yet, we still see incidents like this from time to time, and it speaks to the maturity of those responsible.

Teams getting ready to write big checks for a prospect will certainly have reservations about doing so for a player who handles himself in such a manner.
