2013 NFL draft news: Ryan Nassib rising, Vikings looking to trade, Carradine working out

Get ready for a flurry of NFL Draft buzz in the days leading up to Thursday’s draft.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

Back in February at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, it took everyone a second to process what Florida State defensive end Cornellius Carradine had said. A player who tore his ACL in November pledged that he would have a full workout before the 2013 NFL Draft.

For those that have to see it to believe it, be sure to tune in on Saturday, when Carradine will go through every drill for scouts. That bodes well for Carradine’s draft stock and his bank account.

Here’s the latest buzz in the draft world.

- The Baltimore Sun reported that Carradine, who is working out with the same physical therapist that helped Adrian Peterson return to form a year ago, has been making strides in his recovery from the knee injury that ended his season.

- Could we have a matchup of Dion Jordan vs. Luke Joeckel in the opening week of the season? Big Cat Country examined that possibility after the NFL schedule was released on Thursday night. The Jaguars' Week 1 matchup is against the Kansas City Chiefs. The two teams hold the No. 1 and No. 2 picks in the draft, which could make for an interesting storyline on kickoff weekend.

- After trading away Percy Harvin for a first-round pick, the Minnesota Vikings have displayed interest in moving up to select a wide receiver. The Vikings have an extra pick with which to work, and a few wide receivers could be big time playmakers in this crop. If Minnesota wants to replace Harvin, Tavon Austin could be the next best thing.

- Ryan Nassib is growing on Todd McShay. In a conference call on Friday, McShay said he was impressed when reviewing Nassib's entire body of work. However, McShay had some of the similar concerns that others have had with Nassib's consistency in the deep passing game. Nassib could have a shot at going in the first round.
