2013 NFL draft buzz: Eric Fisher, Cornellius Carradine steal headlines

Teams are lining up for Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher.

USA TODAY Sports

By now, you might be sick of it all. The speculation, the mock drafts, the rumors and the buzz surrounding the 2013 NFL draft is at its height with under a week to go until the Chiefs will be on the clock.

Amidst all the rumors that surfaced on Saturday, Florida State defensive end Tank Carradine put himself through a full workout for NFL scouts and did not fail to impress.

Let’s run down the biggest happenings on this final Saturday before the 2013 NFL Draft.

Chiefs down to four options

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly narrowed down their options with the No. 1 pick to four players. Offensive tackles Luke Joeckel and Eric Fisher appear to be the favorites, but Dion Jordan and Star Lotulelei could be in the mix for the pick as well. In related news, Tony Pauline reported that some Chiefs' position coaches prefer Fisher to Joeckel. That could be an interesting war room discussion.

Saints pondering Rhodes

The New Orleans Saints have an obvious need in the secondary, and Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune has reported that Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes will get serious consideration with the No. 15 pick. Rhodes is the clear-cut No. 2 cornerback in this class behind Dee Milliner and would be a big time upgrade at cornerback for the Saints.

Tank Carradine impresses at workout

In front of 11 teams on Saturday, Tank Carradine showed just how far he has come since his knee injury. After tearing his ACL in late November, Carradine performed a full workouts for scouts. Dan Kadar thinks the workout was enough to secure Carradine a spot in the first round, and that seems to be a common opinion.

Raiders interested in Fisher

The offensive tackles have gotten a ton of attention at the top of this draft, and the Raiders are the latest team rumored to be interested in adding Fisher. Daniel Jeremiah reported that he could be an option at No. 3, which would be a huge shakeup to the top of the draft that could send one of the defensive tackles tumbling down the board.
