2013 NFL Draft team needs: Cincinnati Bengals

After back-to-back playoff appearances, what do the Bengals need to add to push them to the next level?

The Cincinnati Bengals look to finally be developing some level of consistency, making the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1981 and '82. Quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green are entering their third year in the NFL as one of the best pairings in the league, but the team needs help throughout the rest of the roster.

After years of poor drafts and a refusal to spend money in the offseason, Mike Brown has shown improvement on both fronts. The Bengals re-signed many of their free agents and may find a way to bring back right tackle Andre Smith. If they don’t sign Smith, tackle becomes an immediate top three need, but if he returns to Cincy, the Bengals can focus on other positions of need in the draft.

Top three needs

Safety - Cincinnati needs to add a strong safety opposite Reggie Nelson. Chris Crocker is 33 and there are options in the draft that would serve as an upgrade.

Running back - BenJarvus Green-Ellis played well for the Bengals last season, but they need a home run threat to pair with the more dependable, short-yardage back in Green-Ellis.

Offensive tackle - If they don’t sign Smith, right tackle becomes a glaring hole in need of an immediate upgrade.

Ideal pick: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
