NEW YORK -- Sometimes, players get bad information. That seemed to be the case at the 2013 NFL draft, as a number of players who left school early slid further in the draft than expected or didn’t hear their names called at all.
2013 NFL Draft grades: Good, bad and surprise picks from Rounds 6 and 7
A surprising amount of talent was available late in the 2013 NFL Draft.

While the sixth and seventh rounds are reserved for obscure picks or high-upside fliers, a surprising amount of talent remained on the board deep into Saturday’s festivities.
A large number of selections in the last two rounds won’t be heard from right away, but we graded out the good, the bad and the surprising picks of the final rounds.
The Good
Skill players, Arizona Cardinals -- Ryan Swope flew under the radar a bit at Texas A&M, but he has tons of speed and could be another nice weapon for a developing Cardinals passing attack. Arizona picked up some offensive line talent in this draft early with Jonathan Cooper, and the skill position players they got should bring some life to the team again. Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington will give the team a nice combination at running back.
Bacarri Rambo, Washington Redskins -- Given the Redskins' lack of picks, they did a nice job filling holes. Drafting Bacarri Rambo in the sixth round may have been the best value pick the team had all weekend. Rambo is a ball hawk and will give the Redskins some attitude in the secondary, which they definitely need.
Cobi Hamilton and Reid Fragel, Cincinnati Bengals -- The Bengals always seem to identify value at the wide receiver position. This year was no different, as they snagged Arkansas' Cobi Hamilton in the sixth round. Hamilton has his flaws, but he seemed to get open consistently for the Razorbacks last season. The Bengals then added Reid Fragel in the seventh round. Even with the re-signing of Andre Smith, Fragel is an excellent pick to add depth at right tackle.
Zac Dysert, Denver Broncos -- As the draft was winding down, the Denver Broncos selected Zac Dysert, a quarterback from Miami University. He's a better potential quarterback of the future than Brock Osweiler is for the franchise and should have been gone rounds earlier.
Michael Buchanan, New England Patriots -- The Patriots have been adding pieces to the pass rush in this year's draft and got another good one in Michael Buchanan. As a seventh-round pick, Buchanan has a ton of potential. He had an off year in 2012, but was much better the year before. He was playing at or above the level of Whitney Mercilus, a first-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2012.
The Bad
Brad Sorenson, San Diego Chargers -- I have no qualms with Brad Sorenson as a quarterback prospect. Normally, he would make a ton of sense in the seventh round. But with Tyler Bray, Zac Dysert and Matt Scott still on the board, this pick was a bit of a head-scratcher. Sorenson isn't on that level in terms of raw ability.
The Surprising
Da’Rick Rogers doesn’t get picked -- We all knew Da’Rick Rogers has questionable character after the unceremonious end to his career at Tennessee. But to see him go undrafted was a bit of shock. He has the talent, someone just needs to figure out how to keep him in line. Apparently he got himself taken off too many draft boards with his antics.
Jordan Poyer falls -- More surprising than Da'Rick Rogers is how far Jordan Poyer fell. While Rogers has character issues holding him back, Poyer is, by all accounts, clean from that standpoint. As a player, he grades out in the top 100 in this class. Maybe we were missing something. What did the teams know that we didn't? Either way, the Eagles got a steal in the seventh round.
