NASCAR Nationwide Series at Michigan International Speedway lineup: Austin Dillon wins 4th consecutive pole

Austin Dillon won the pole again on the Nationwide circuit. Will it finally translate to victory?

Will Schneekloth

Austin Dillon finished first in qualifying for the Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, becoming the first NASCAR Nationwide Series driver to earn four consecutive poles.

Dillon’s best speed was 191.882 mph, beating out Sprint Cup Series driver Paul Menard by more than a full mile per hour to take the top spot. Earning the pole hasn’t translated to victory for Dillon in his last three races, though he has been able to put up strong finishes of 14th, eighth and second in his previous three outings.

Other notables from qualifying include Kyle Busch -- who finished 14th with a top speed of 188.862 mph -- and Nationwide Series points leader Regan Smith. Smith will start 20th after topping out at 188.408 mph.
