2016 NFL mock draft: Carolina Panthers choose Will Fuller

The Notre Dame wide receiver fell in the SB Nation NFL writers mock draft, and the Panthers get a steal.

We have another value vs. need conundrum in the SB Nation NFL writers mock draft. There’s a very good offensive tackle available for the Carolina Panthers that they could use. Instead of taking one in the first round, Jaxon from Cat Scratch Reader went with Clemson pass rusher Kevin Dodd. Can he pass on an offensive tackle again, or does value outweigh everything?

61. Panthers: Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame

Jaxon: While I had really hoped Sterling Sheppard would fall to No. 60, I’ll settle for the fastest wide receiver in the class and the one most compare to current Panthers receiver Ted Ginn. Fuller brings the top-end speed the Panthers covet on the outside to stretch the defense. Overall the Panthers don’t have a lot of needs and can go with best player available, and I think Fuller represents that at the end of the second round.

Analysis: You could argue the Panthers should take offensive tackle Le’Raven Clark here because he fills a need on an average offensive line. But you really can’t dispute Fuller’s value. Why he dropped in this mock is unknown, but he brings a unique level of speed to the field.
