The 49ers fought their way back from a 17-0 deficit on Sunday against the Falcons. Here’s a look at what stood out to San Francisco fans in that victory.


Colin Kaepernick stepped up and delivered a few huge throws in the fourth quarter. Vernon Davis caught five passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Both performances that will stand out in the coming weeks. However, the defense didn't allow a single point in the second half, a fact that surely resonated with the entire Niners fanbase.

David Fucillo of Niners Nation credited defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for his coaching down the stretch, praising his game plan in the second half. He also talked about Kaepernick's play in just his second start in the playoffs.

Of course the players on the field will be the first to show up in the highlights and in every news article, but Fangio needs to be given credit for his contributions as well. It's hard to believe the Falcons didn't score at all in the second half, even as they continued to move the ball downfield.
