Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Cleveland Browns paying a visit to the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Lions picked up their second straight win last Monday night, storming ahead of the Ravens late to pick up a big 38-30 road victory against one of the top contenders in the AFC. Tight end Sam LaPorta made a modest contribution in the winning and has been somewhat quiet on the fantasy front so far this season.

Below, we’ll go over LaPorta’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 4.

Fantasy Football analysis: Lions TE Sam LaPorta

LaPorta caught all four of his targets for 33 yards in the Lions’ victory over the Ravens last Monday, turning in just 7.3 fantasy points in PPR leagues for the week. Ranking as the 14th fantasy tight end in all scoring formats at the moment, his numbers so far has been a bit underwhelming considering that he was No. 4 in ADP ahead of the regular season.

What made him a top-10 fantasy wideout last season was his effectiveness in the red zone as five of his seven touchdowns came within the 20-yard line. The third-year pass catcher has just three red-zone targets through three games so far this year, so we’ll see if they can get him more involved as this new season rolls along. He still has the fifth-best receiving grade among tight ends according to Pro Football Focus, so chances are that he’ll have a breakout performance sooner rather than later.

Start or sit in Week 4 PPR leagues?

Start. LaPorta managers should stay the course and continue to start him as the Detroit offense is starting to get into a groove. This is the exact type of game where tight end play on both sides could make a difference and it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Lions pass-catcher step up in this home showdown.

Start or sit in Week 4 standard leagues?

Start.
