Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Jacksonville Jaguars visiting the San Francisco 49ers at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Jaguars are 2-1 heading into this matchup and had to grind out an ugly 17-10 victory over the Texans last Sunday to get back above .500. Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. made a few big catches in the contest, but there are growing concerns of a sophomore slump with his early-season struggles.

Below, we’ll go over Thomas’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 4.

Fantasy Football analysis: Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.

Thomas caught just two of his six targets for 55 yards in last Sunday’s victory over the Texans, which was his highest receiving output through three games. As the No. 8 fantasy wideout in ADP heading into the season, the second-year weapon has been a massive disappointment so far this season and he enters Week 4 ranked in the 50’s in PPR leagues.

The former LSU playmaker has an abysmal catch rate of 28% this season and as CBS Sports’ JP Acosta pointed out, he’s the only receiver in the top 20 in receptions who has a catch rate of below 40%. His failure to to maximize his targets can also be attributed to his four drops on the year, which is tied with CeeDee Lamb and Calvin Ridley for the league lead through three weeks. Throw in a nagging wrist injury and it’s been a disastrous start to the season for Thomas. We’ll see if he can turn things around against the Niners.

Start or sit in Week 4 PPR leagues?

Sit. Thomas managers are certainly hoping that the receiver gets back on track and unfortunately for them, this most likely won’t be the week. The 49ers rank fourth in defensive passing EPA heading into Sunday’s showdown as they’ve held opponents to just 5.6 yards per attempt. More specifically, they rank fourth in DVOA vs. WR1’s and have held opposing team’s top receivers to just 56.2 yards per game.

It’s time to hit the panic button with Thomas. Look for other options to start.
