Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season is already upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the San Francisco 49ers traveling cross-country to battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.

The banged up 49ers are coming off a mini-bye as the last time we saw them in action, they toppled the Rams in a 26-23 overtime victory last Thursday night. Tight end Jake Tonges once again made a big contribution in the game and he’s really stepped up in George Kittle’s absence over the past month.

Below, we’ll go over Tonges’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 6.

Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers TE Jake Tonges

Tonges delivered seven receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown in San Fran’s road victory over L.A. last Thursday, marking the second straight game where he’s found the end zone. As mentioned before, the tight end has done his part in holding down the fort with the All-Pro Kittle nurses a hamstring injury and he’s played a role in the Niners sitting at 4-1 even with several star players out.

He’s been able to reward fantasy managers who scooped him off the waiver wire and stands as a top-10 fantasy tight end heading into Sunday’s road matchup. Even with Kittle’s return possibly imminent, he’ll most likely remain a huge part of the 49ers’ offensive gameplan moving forward.

Start or sit in Week 6 Standard leagues?

Start. Why stop now? Tonges has continued to step up for San Francisco and he’ll be going up against a Tampa Bay defense that just gave up two touchdowns to Seattle tight end AJ Barner in that wild shootout last week. Give him the nod once again.
