Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season rolls on and the action will continue with an AFC showdown featuring the Indianapolis Colts visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.

The Colts continue to boast the best record in the NFL and they were able to improve to 7-1 by pummeling the Titans in a 38-14 victory last Sunday. Wide receiver Josh Downs made an impact in his return to action during the contest and we’ll see if he can do the same in today’s matchup.

Below, we’ll go over Downs’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 9.

Fantasy Football analysis: Colts WR Josh Downs

After missing their Week 7 matchup with a concussion, Downs caught all three of his targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in his return against the Titans last Sunday afternoon. It marked the second straight outing where he’s crossed the goal line and that was good enough for him to finish as a top-30 fantasy wideout for the week.

There hasn’t been anything flashy about the third-year receiver through the first half of the season, but he’s remained a reliable intermediate option for Daniel Jones. Downs enters Week 9 with a catch rate of 78.38%, which ranks eighth among receivers with at least 100 routes run this season.

Start or sit in Week 9 PPR leagues?

Start. The Steelers don’t give up too many big passes, but they are one of seven teams that has already given up 2,000 passing yards through the air along with 13 touchdowns. The Colts nickel and diming their way down the field elevates Downs’ fantasy viability as he should catch enough targets to make himself a quality Flex start for the week.
