The Detroit Lions suffered a tough blow to their offense in the first quarter of their Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers. Amon-Ra St. Brown suffered an ankle injury and did not return to the game. St. Brown was targeted once prior to the injury. He was coming off a season-high performance in Week 12 against the New York Giants when he caught nine passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.

St. Brown injured the ankle while blocking downfield. Left guard Kayode Awosika and center Trystan Colon rolled up on him from behind during the play. After getting checked out in the blue medical tent he went back to the locker room for further examination.

St. Brown did not return to the game the rest of the first half. Jameson Williams had a big first half in St. Brown’s absence, catching three passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Tom Kennedy was the beneficiary of St. Brown’s absence, catching three passes for 29 yards.

The team downgraded St. Brown from questionable to out in the third quarter due to his ankle injury.

After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said St. Brown wasn’t done for the season, but he may not be back soon.

“I don’t feel like this is long, long-term, so that’s the good news.” said Campbell. “But that doesn’t mean it won’t be here for... It could be a week or two, maybe, if we’re lucky.”

The Lions lost the game to fall to 7-5 and third place in the NFC North. They currently are on the outside looking in of a wild card spot, as well. They play next Thursday night against the surging Dallas Cowboys who have won three straight then face the first-place Los Angeles Rams. After that, the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be an easy out before another short week and the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas. They end the season with a game against the NFC North leaders, the Chicago Bears.
