Postgame update: The Eagles had no trouble in Week 15, beating the Raiders 31-0. The win improved them to 9-5 on the season. They now have a 95% chance of winning the division. They’ll be keeping an eye on Cowboys vs. Vikings on Sunday Night Football.

4 p.m. window update: The Packers lost to the Broncos, which dropped them behind the Bears in the NFC North. The Bears thumped the Browns and now sit in second place in the conference, a game back of the Rams. LA beat beat Detroit to maintain their lead in the conference.

SNF update: The Cowboys lost to the Vikings on Sunday Night Football and dropped their record to 6-7-1. Dallas is not eliminated from playoff contention with that loss, but will be eliminated in Week 16 if they lose to the Chargers or the Eagles beat the Commanders.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been struggling in recent weeks, but they still head in Week 15 as the heavy favorites to win the NFC East. They cannot clinch anything in Week 15, they can set themselves up to clinch the NFC East in Week 16 with a win and some help. The Eagles host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday and are heavy favorites, with the line set at -11.5.

The Eagles are 8-5 and have lost three straight games. Most recently, they lost 22-19 in overtime to the Chargers, with LA clinching the game after Jalen Hurts threw a game-ending pick. Hurts threw four interceptions and lost a fumble in a disaster of a performance. Fortunately for the Eagles, they face a Raiders squad that is scuffling as well. Las Vegas is 2-11 and has lost seven straight. They lost a home game against the Broncos last week.

NFC East standings

The Eagles sit roughly 1.5 games up on the Cowboys. Given the Cowboys have a tie on their record, we likely won’t see any tiebreakers necessary. The Cowboys are hosting the Vikings this week and are 6.5-point favorites. If the Eagles win and the Cowboys lose, Philly would be set up with a division clinching scenario in Week 16.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles: 9-5
  2. Dallas Cowboys: 6-6-1
  3. Washington Commanders: 4-10
  4. New York Giants: 2-12
NFC playoff standings

The Eagles are in third place overall, sitting two games back of the Rams, 1.5 games back of the Packers, and one game up on the Panthers. Philly holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over LA and has an edge in conference record over Carolina. Although the Eagles can’t clinch anything this week, there are some scenarios in which they are eliminated from contention for the No. 1 seed if they lose to the Raiders. Not including scenarios requiring a tie, they include:

  • Rams and Seahawks both win, OR
  • Rams, 49ers, Packers, and Bears all win, OR
  • Seahawks, 49ers, Packers, Bears all win

The various teams have the following matchups (betting favorite with the spread in parenthesis):

  • Rams (-5.5) vs. Lions
  • Seahawks (-13.5) vs. Colts
  • 49ers (-12.5) vs. Titans
  • Packers (-2.5) @ Broncos
  • Bears (-7.5) vs. Browns

Here’s a rundown of the current conference standings:

  1. Los Angeles Rams: 10-3
  2. Green Bay Packers: 9-3-1
  3. Philadelphia Eagles: 9-5
  4. Carolina Panthers: 7-6
  5. Seattle Seahawks: 10-3
  6. Chicago Bears: 10-4
  7. San Francisco 49ers: 9-4
  8. Detroit Lions: 8-5
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 7-7
  10. Dallas Cowboys: 6-6-1

Tiebreaker implications

This has no possible tiebreaker implication. The only possible tiebreaker implication could have been with the Bears, as the Raiders were a common opponent for Philly and Chicago. However, the Bears beat the Eagles in Week 13, so they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.
