Game results: The Texans beat the Colts on Sunday, but were unable to secure an AFC South title. The Jaguars crushed the Titans at the same time to secure the division title. Houston will play next weekend as a wild card team, earning the No. 5 seed with their win. They will visit the No. 4 Steelers in the AFC Wild Card round next Monday.

The Houston Texans are headed to the playoffs.

But before the playoffs begin, the Texans still have a chance at clinching the AFC South on the final day of play.

The Texans enter Week 18 with an 11-5 record, coming off a win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17. That has Houston one game behind the Jacksonville Jaguars, and with a chance to take the division title on Sunday. If the playoffs were to begin today, Houston would be visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wild Card Weekend.

But here is how Houston can move even higher in the standings on the last day of the season.

Houston Texans AFC South clinching scenarios

Entering Week 18, the Jaguars lead the AFC South with a 12-4 record. Houston is one game behind at 11-5.

But with a win against the Indianapolis Colts, the Texans can win the division, provided the Jaguars lose against the Tennessee Titans.

It is worth noting that Houston needs a win. If the Texans tie the Colts, the Jaguars will win the AFC South even if they lose to the Titans.

This also means that the Texans could rise to the No. 3 seed in the AFC South if they win the division. However, Houston can also slide down in the seedings, to No. 6 or even No. 7. Houston would end up as the No. 7 seed with a loss to the Colts, a Los Angeles Chargers win or tie against the Denver Broncos, and a Buffalo Bills win or tie against the New York Jets.
