NFL rumors tracker for head coach openings with latest updates and reports

The NFL coaching carrousel is in full swing, with a bloody Black Monday and Tuesday creating five new head coach openings around the league. The New York Giants and Tennessee Titans had already fired their head coaches in-season, meaning there’s seven top jobs available right now. There have already been some shocking moves, and not every team is going to get their top candidate.

The surprising move the coaching cycle happened when the Baltimore Ravens fired John Harbaugh after 18 seasons on the job. Harbaugh will be 64 years old at the start of next season, but he’s already garnering significant interest around the league. Expect this cycle to include some “retreads” who have been fired by other teams, as well as young coaches who will get their first shot at leading a team.

The Ravens, Giants, Titans, Falcons, Cardinals, Browns, Raiders all have head coach openings right now. Teams like to cast a wide net during a head coaching search, and that leads to some wild rumors. We’ll be updating you on the most significant rumors of this coaching cycle with this post.

Pierce spent the last five years of his playing career with the Giants. He was also briefly the Raiders’ head coach.

The Titans are moving fast and casting a wide net in their head coaching search.

That could be one mean defense in Baltimore.

The Browns are giving their young OC an opportunity to interview for the top job.

It would be really surprising if Morris landed another head coaching job in this cycle after how things ended in Atlanta.

Nagy is already a top candidate for the Tennessee Titans.

McCarthy took last year off, but has 18 years of head coaching experience with the Packers and Cowboys.

Jan. 6 updates

The youngest current NFL head coach is Kellen Moore of the New Orleans Saints, and he’s 37. This would be a huge step for Webb, and it’s nice just to get an interview.

He should get to pick the GM too if this happens. Harbaugh reportedly wants to coach in 2026.

The Chiefs’ passing game offense took a big downturn after hiring Nagy, so it’s surprising that he’s getting another look after his failed stint as Chicago Bears head coach.

He’s going to be one of the hottest young playcallers who could get a job in this cycle (Yahoo).
