It has been an emotional 24 hours for Denver Broncos fans.

On the positive side of the ledger, they saw their favorite team book a spot in the AFC Championship Game with an emotional overtime win over the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Thanks to the win, the Broncos will now host the New England Patriots in the AFC title game next week

On the other side of the ledger, however, was the news that starting quarterback Bo Nix will miss that game. The second-year QB suffered a fracture in his right ankle on Denver’s final drive in overtime, and will undergo surgery on Tuesday rather than begin his preparation for the AFC Championship Game. That means Jarrett Stidham — who was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has not attempted a regular-season pass since 2023 — will get the start next Sunday.

Broncos fans are now getting some advice from an unlikely source, but one that might have the best advice of all.

Nick Foles.

Foles, after all, would know. After taking over for the injured Carson Wentz during the closing stages of the 2017 NFL regular season, he led the Philadelphia Eagles to a win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

He also secured MVP honors in that game.

Broncos fans are now left to hope that the second time is a charm.
