The first quarter of Super Bowl 60 is a wrap and we’re seeing an impressive defensive display by the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. The Seahawks lead 3-0 and that means that if you are playing in a Super Bowl squares contest, you win if you have the square for Seahawks 3 and Patriots 0. Congrats on cashing in early!

It’s time for Super Bowl squares results. We’ve got the first quarter numbers for Super Bowl 60.
New England won the coin toss and elected to defer to open the game. Seattle managed three first downs on the opening drive, included an impressive 23-yard catch by Cooper Kupp as he was going out of bounds. Seattle drove down to the Patriots 17-yard line, but stalled out and settled for a 33-yard field goal. Jason Myers converted it for the only points of the quarter.
Both defenses have looked good since that opening drive. The Patriots offense managed an eight play drive after the Seahawks field goal, but eventually had to punt and have struggled the rest of the quarter. Their second to last drive of the quarter saw them start at their own 36 and move into Seahawks territory, but a stop of TreVeyon Henderson on a short pass and then a 10-yard sack ended that drive. They will open the second quarter with the ball on their own 37.
Historically, double zeroes has been the most common combination of numbers at the end of the first quarter. 3 and 0 is the second most common result, which makes sense given that offenses can take some time to get going.
