Aaron Donald un-retiring to join Myles Garrett would be DIABOLICAL

The Los Angeles Rams are now the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl, and it’s not even close. Already a team pegged to be in the mix to win the Lombardi Trophy in 2027, the Rams took a huge step towards asserting their dominance over the NFL by trading for Myles Garrett on Monday. Adding the reigning Defensive Player of the Year to their roster is an embarrassment of riches, and now Sean McVay’s team might as well push their team beyond just winning this season and into the realm of something we have never seen before.

The Rams should convince Aaron Donald to un-retire and re-join the team for their Super Bowl run. Sure, all signs point to Donald being happy in his early retirement — but not all guys remain in game shape two years after leaving football. A workout video posted by Donald over the weekend looks like he could step on the field right now and still dominate the league.

Would it be fair to have Donald and Garrett on the field at the same time? Absolutely not. Would it be fascinating to see what kind of havoc they could create? Hell yes. The legendary pass-rushing defensive tackle retired from the Rams at age 33, following the 2023 season in which Los Angeles won the Super Bowl. At the time he said that he felt like the accomplished everything there was to gain in football, and kudos to the man for getting out early, living his best life, and not being so consumed with football that he couldn’t image life after it.

It’s here that the 2026 Rams present something wholly unique for Donald. For a man who defined his career by shaping the sport and achieving things, then why not try to reach for one more goal: Forming the most dominant pass rush the NFL has ever seen.

That’s not a statement to be taken lightly, but it’s truly what a Garrett/Donald pairing could achieve together. Keep in mind that this is also a team with Byron Young on the other edge, a player who had 12.0 sacks in 2025. Ostensibly, you’re talking about putting THREE defensive players in a unit, all of whom could registed double-digit sacks — and even as I think about this possibility, I realize we haven’t talked about Kobie Turner, who had 7.0 sacks as a five-tech DT last year.

This mad scientist idea seems to have a little more legs than anyone imagined, because former Rams lineman Michael Brockers is already hinting that Donald is staying ready if he gets the call.

We know it’s not a foregone conclusion that the Rams would win the Super Bowl by adding Aaron Donald, because at the end of the day you’re still leaning on Matthew Stafford not getting hurt — but at the same time, who needs a quarterback when you can win every game by scoring off safeties?
