Los Angeles Rams starting left tackle Alaric Jackson was arrested by LAPD officers early Tuesday morning in response to a 911 call at his San Fernando Valley home shortly after 11 p.m. local time. Jackson was subsequently charged with felony domestic violence, which was defined as “a person who willfully inflicts corporal injury against a spouse.”

Police told NBC4 in Los Angeles that Jackson had been engaged in a verbal altercation with a woman, who then took out her phone. The Rams’ player believed the woman was attempting to film him and became angry, trying to take the phone from the woman, and leaving visible scratch marks as a result. He posted $50,000 in bail and is currently free while he awaits his court date.

This is far from the first incident involving Alaric Jackson. In 2024 he was suspended two games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, though no information was made public about why Jackson was suspended. Then in November of 2025 he was named in a civil lawsuit by a woman who says he met Jackson for sex the year prior, and filmed her without her consent. When she asked Jackson to delete the video he mocked her, saying “she ‘would never know’ whether the recording was truly deleted.” The suit claims that the plaintiff has suffered emotional and psychological harm by not knowing what has happened with the video since.

There has been suggestion that the civil suit and the 2024 supension by the NFL are for the same incident, though that has not been confirmed by the NFL, Rams, or Jackson himself.

The football ramifications are far from the most important part in this story, but warrant discussion because of the profound effect they could have on the Rams in 2026. Jackson is the starting left tackle for an offense in dire need of keeping Matthew Stafford upright in order to compete this year. Los Angeles has veteran lineman David Quessenberry as their depth at LT this season, but he was horrible in limited time last season both as a run blocker and pass protector, which means he can’t be counted on as the team’s starter.

Now the wait for the NFL’s response is on. Typically the league does not make any moves towards suspension until the legal process has played out, but Jackson also has an established history of conduct detrimental to the NFL. If he is suspended as a result of this latest incident it could change much of what we thought about the upcoming season.
