Strange things happen with kickers in the thin air at Mile High. (Former kicker Jason Elam writing a novel called Monday Night Jihad is probably one of them.) Today, that air just means very long field goals are happening.
Broncos, Jets Bombing Field Goals From Extraordinarily Long Range, And Only Long Range

First, Matt Prater hit a career-long 59-yarder for the Broncos. Then, Nick Folk answered with a 56-yarder that set a new Jets record. Then @STATS_NFL informed the world that this was the first-ever NFL game with two made field goals of 56+ yards.

Weirder still, the Broncos attempted two other field goals, both under 50 yards, but got nothing from them. Holder Britton Colquitt couldn't handle a snap on one and Prater pushed another wide right. It's almost as if the Broncos think there are extra points for degree of difficulty.
