The Redskins had two chances to tie or win the game late against the Colts Sunday night. Much like Carlos Rogers did all night, they simply dropped the ball.
Colts Vs. Redskins: ‘Skins Defense Gets Two Big Stops; The Offense Gets A Lot Of Nothing
In a second half where the Redskins could seemingly only stop the Colts from scoring by virtue of a convenient fumble or a missed Adam Vinatieri field goal, the Redskins defense came up huge when they had to, giving the offense one last chance to tie or win the game.
When the Redskins offense took an agonizing six minutes to score the touchdown to pull the team within three points, it left the Colts with about 2:45 to burn to win the game. With Joseph Addai out on an injury, the Colts elected to pass three times, none of which were completed. On 3rd down, Redskins corner Phillip Buchanan made perfect coverage of Reggie Wayne to force a punt, setting the Redskins up with the ball with three timeouts and the two-minute warning, plus about two and a half minutes with which to work.

The Redskins have been unable to catch interceptions on Sunday night, but the team has been getting the benefit of fumbles in the turnover department. Three times, the Redskins have recovered Colts fumbles.
One was on a strip sack by Brian Orakpo on Peyton Manning. The second was on a punt return error by Kenny Moore and the third came from Joseph Addai when he was hit in the helmet by a Redskins defender inside the red zone. The ball squirted loose and Washington recovered.

Carlos Rogers is one of those defensive backs who always evokes the cliche that if corners could catch, they would be receivers. The guy is well reputed for almost never completing an interception when he gets his hands on the ball, no matter how seemingly gift wrapped the pass.
Tonight is certainly no different and Rogers and fellow Redskin Kareem Moore have combined for three dropped interceptions in the first half alone. The first Rogers drop was borderline and required review, but it was clear the ball came out of his grasp once he hit the ground, so it was ruled an incomplete pass, rather than an interception and fumble.

Washington has been a bend-but-don’t-break operation all throughout this 2010 campaign. The Redskins are allowing a league-high 410.2 yards per game, but have yielded a total of only 32 points in their three triumphs.
The Colts had been battered for 174 rushing yards in their previous outing, a 31-28 road setback to Jacksonville that left the perennial playoff contenders at 0-2 in divisional play.
