Seau Tells Police He Fell Asleep At The Wheel, Was Not Attempting Suicide

TMZ says they have spoken with sources inside the Carlsbad police that Junior Seau told authorities he was not attempting suicide when his car drove off a cliff Monday.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Seau told police that he simply nodded off in the driver’s seat of his Cadillac Escalade in the hours after his arrest for allegedly attacking his 25-year-old girlfriend — and never intended to drive off the cliff.

Local Police Lt. Kelly Cain told the North County Times that the lack of skid marks leading up to the cliff was consistent with the idea that he fell asleep.

Police won’t get the results of a drug test for six weeks so until then we’ll just have to take Seau at his word. Junior was treated for minor injuries at a California hospital then released.
