The NFL trade deadline passed on Tuesday and as it often is with the trade deadline there were no last minute deals. Instead most of the trading around the NFL took place in the last couple of weeks leading up to the trade deadline.

Winners
The Vikings are clearly in win-now mode because of Brett Favre. It's not the same team with Tarvaris Jackson so they need to win while they've got a shot.
Trading for Randy Moss was an excellent move at an excellent price. Moss helps the Vikings win this season and gives one of their biggest assets (Favre) a huge weapon.
The Patriots giving up on Randy Moss was definitely a perplexing move and one that could have landed them on the losers list. But early results with another trade of theirs, Deion Branch, suggest everything may work out in New England.
Branch had a great start with nine catches and a TD in his return to New England. If he can put up similar numbers to Moss -- which when looking at his season may not be that high -- then the trade was worth it for the Patriots.
Losers
Why wouldn't the Panthers try to trade a couple of their pieces for draft picks? Guys like Steve Smith or one of their two running backs -- DeAngelo Williams or Jonathan Stewart -- would make for great trade bait.
This would give the Panthers a couple extra draft picks, which is what they need. They’re not doing anything this season sitting at 0-5 so the draft picks would build for the future. Standing still on a couple of those players doesn’t make sense.
This isn’t a huge loss for the Packers because they’re going to be a pretty good team regardless but we would have liked to see Green Bay go after a running back.
There were rumors circulating on Tuesday that the Packers were looking for running back help but they only ended up being rumors. The Packers don’t run the ball much -- they’re 28th in attempts -- so a running back could have helped balance that offense out.
