Channing Crowder is not a fan of the NFL's new crackdown on helmet-to-helmet hits. You might think this is more of the same tough-guy lines from a defensive player, but actually Crowder is just being practical.
Channing Crowder Wants To Use The Helmet The NFL Gave Him
↵↵“If I get a chance to knock somebody out, I’m going to knock them out and take what they give me,” Crowder said Wednesday. “They give me a helmet, I’m going to use it.”
↵↵Of course, it’s likely that the NFL doesn’t give players helmets for quite that purpose, but it is awfully strange to give someone a tool if you don’t want them to use it.
↵Crowder’s contention is that the league is motivated by money, which of course it is, and that the reason for the crackdown is to protect the health of receivers and quarterbacks who sell more jerseys. One wonders if the NFL will have any response to Crowder’s remarks -- say, maybe, a fine?
↵After all, there’s nothing the NFL loves more than irony.
