Agent: Vincent Jackson Will Sign Tender, Report To Chargers Oct. 29

Neil Schwartz, agent for Vincent Jackson, tells Pro Football Talk that his client will sign his restricted free agent tender next Friday, Oct. 29, and report to the San Diego Chargers.

Jackson has yet to sign his tender and therefore has not reported to the Chargers at this point. Jackson has two DUIs on his record (and a suspension waiting if he had another) so the Chargers were apparently hesitant to sign him to a long-term deal over the offseason.

What’s even more frustrating, from Jackson’s perspective, is that with the league’s uncapped year brings the new rule that unrestricted free agency comes with six years and not four. Jackson was one of the fifth year guys that were hurt by the rule.

Because the Chargers placed him on the roster exempt list, he’ll have to serve a three-game suspension upon returning.

Vincent Jackson rumors cropped up last week before the league's trading deadline. There were a few teams interested over the last couple of months -- rumors include the Vikings, Seahawks and Rams -- but ultimately they couldn't agree on compensation for Jackson or Jackson's contract demands.

Multiple outlets reported last week that Jackson would report before the Chargers Week 8 game because, after serving his suspension, he would still be on the roster for six games qualifying for free agency next year.

The next step will be Jackson actually signing his tender and reporting to the Chargers on Oct. 29.
