On Thursday, the NFL released its video on helmet-to-helmet hits and hits on a defenseless receiver, detailing what is and is not legal. Admittedly though, it’s somewhat confusing. For example, Ray Lewis’ hit on Dustin Keller in Week 1 is deemed acceptable, and the Bears’ Earl Bennett blind-siding Seahawks’ punter Jon Ryan -- seemingly a defenseless player -- is called a “solid blow.” With so many intricate and detailed guidelines for what is a legal hit and what is considered illegal by the NFL, it can be confusing for a safety.

All you have to do is remember that a hit on a “quarterback or receiver that makes over $10 million is illegal.”
