There are Madden curses, and then there’s throwing two pick sixes to the same 265-pound linebacker in one game. I’m just saying. Browns LB David Bowens ran back Drew Brees passes for 30- and 48-yard touchdowns. That plus Phil Dawson’s three field goals and a RB Peyton Hillis four-yard run was all the Browns needed to put away the champs.
Week 7 NFL Scores And Results: All David Bowens Does Is Run Back Drew Brees Passes, Browns Surprise Saints 30-17
The Saints nearly doubled the Browns’ total yardage, 393 to 210, and more than doubled their first down total, 25 to 12, but four Brees interceptions more than made the difference.
Browns QB Colt McCoy remained competent, throwing 16 times for 74 yards, but didn’t have quite as good a passing day as WR Josh Cribbs. Cribbs threw once from scrimmage for 13 yards and once on a kickoff return lateral that set up a huge return deep into Saints territory.
The Browns are now 2-5, and the defending champs are 4-3 and looking up at the Falcons in the NFC South.
