Peyton Manning threw for 352 yards against the Jaguars today, passing John Elway for third place on the NFL's all-time passing yards list. He also led the Colts on a game-tying touchdown drive with less than two minutes left. But the Colts left the Jaguars too much time, and took one of their three remaining timeouts after a Maurice Jones-Drew run to preserve the chance to drive for a field goal after a three and out. That was a mistake.
Josh Scobee’s Game-Winning Career Long Field Goal Lifts Jaguars, Spoils Manning’s Milestone Day
David Garrard found Tiquan Underwood twice on the Jaguars' final drive to move Jacksonville just into Colts territory. After a made try nullified by a timeout, Josh Scobee drilled a 59-yard field goal, a career long, as time expired.
The 31-28 loss drops the Colts to last in the AFC South and 0-2 against division foes. That’s not an enviable position, even though the Colts still have seven home games remaining, including all three against the AFC South.
