It was the Roddy White show in Atlanta tonight as the Falcons used a strong performance from the hobbled wide receiver to seal a last-second win over the Baltimore Ravens, 26-21. Down one with 20 seconds to play, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan hooked-up with White from 33 yards out for the go ahead score. White and Ryan put on a show in the first Thursday night football match-up of the year, hooking up twice for touchdowns and looking unstoppable at times.
Atlanta Falcons Use Late Touchdown To Drop Baltimore Ravens, 26-21
The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and looked to be in complete control, leading 10-3 at the half. In the third quarter, Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco came alive and lead Baltimore back behind three second half touchdown passes. Two of those touchdowns came in the fourth quarter, the last of which gave the Falcons the lead with just 1:52 to go. In the end, Ryan out-dueled Flacco, putting together some last-minute heroics of his own.
Ryan finished the game with a superb 316 passing yards and three touchdowns. White caught 12 passes for 136 yards and two scores on the day. The Falcons abandoned the run early, hurting Michael Turner’s production. Turner finished the day with 17 carries for 39 yards.
Flacco started slow but ended strong, throwing for 215 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Todd Heap caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown to pace the Ravens’ receivers. Anquan Boldin added 50 yards and a score. The Ravens’ running game was near non-existent, with Ray Rice adding only 59 yards on the ground.
