Those Washington Redskins fans who were hoping to Clinton Portis back in Week 10 will have to keep waiting. Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports Portis will be inactive on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles. This jives with the Washington Post's report on Monday morning that Portis "seems doubtful" to play against the Eagles.
Monday Night Football, Eagles Vs. Redskins: Clinton Portis Injury Leaves Him Inactive
Missing Portis is nothing new for the Redskins as he’s been out since Week 4 with a groin injury. He was officially listed as questionable for the game. As SB Nation DC notes, Portis’ injury was originally expected to be 4-6 weeks and this is the sixth week so there’s hope that he’ll be available next week.
Taking his place will once again be Ryan Torain, who has done a decent job replacing Portis. Torain had consecutive 100-plus yard games before his nine-carry-for-10-yard stinker in Week 8. The Eagles are solid against the run so Torain will have to earn his yards in Week 10.
